Not the same Wave Rider,
Have ran in the previous 2 models of the Wave Rider but this iteration is greatly different! The heel cup and ankle coller are too tight and high which results in holding the foot in the incorrect places. The toe box is more pointed, really restricting the natural way my foot wants to sit in the shoe. Most noticeably, the arch support I had grown accustomed to in the previous Wave Riders is missing. This is the largest draw back as when I ran in them I kept thinking how uncomfortable this shoe was, rather than focusing on my run. Trying them on in the store didn’t bring to set alight the severity of all these changes so hopefully someone can benefit from this review. I have since went out and bought the Wave Precision. Hopefully Mizuno gets the Wave Rider 15 right.

|Ankle collar,
This was my 4th pair of Wave Rider. The shoe felt fantastic at first, but on my 5th or 6th run, the ankle collar started rubbing painfully against my ankle ball. I was soon forced to retire them. I eventually bought a pair of thick sole inserts to use them occasionally. My local store told me others had been experiencing this problem with the 14. That was disapointing since the Wave Rider 10-13, were probably the best shoes I’ve ever had.

|Fantastic bargain among the top in succession shoes.,
Just got these shoes and they are wonderful. Having been a long time NB guy, 991, 992 & 993, I finally opted for a change. The shoe is very reminiscent of the Asics Gel DS, in form and weight. The first notable item to mention is that they are form fitting. Secondly and most vital to me, they feel right. They fit snug on the foot and as if they are part of the foot. That is vital to me when in succession. I want to know that they’re there but at the same time I do not want them to be there. The weight is a huge upside. Overall they are a fantastic bargain for the ever escaping $ in our pockets. After a few weeks in them I will be pleased to report back on the roads reaction to my new blacktop sharks.
